Awesome Roku

This 2-in-1 device combines Roku’s excellent streaming apps with a 14″ wide, 4-driver speaker that can upgrade the sound on your TV set without taking up a bunch of space. It offers Bluetooth and AirPlay2 wireless connectivity, along with Alexa, Google voice assistant, Spotify Connect, and Dolby Audio support.

Roku’s updated Premiere+ streaming stick is a pocket-sized device that supports 4K HDR streaming. It comes with a remote control that has dedicated buttons for your TV’s power and volume, as well as a microphone for voice control. Drops 10/7/18.

Movies Anywhere gathers your movies from Vudu, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and Blu-ray download codes into one streaming app. The app is available on iOS, Android, Roku and Chromecast devices. It works with Disney, 20th Century Fox, Universal and Warner Bros. films.

Roku upgrades its Streaming Stick with 4K and HDR playback, improved reception and a more useful remote control. The Streaming Stick+ has a Wi-Fi booster in its power cord, and the new Roku remote comes with voice search and TV power and volume controls.

Roku overhauls its lineup of streaming media players. The Streaming Stick is still there, but its less portable siblings now come in five variants, from the $30 1080p-capable Roku Express to the $130 Roku Ultra, which supports 4K and HDR and has voice search.

The first Roku to have a motion controller for games, dual-band Wi-Fi, an Ethernet port, a USB port. It also comes with the new streamlined Roku user interface and Angry Birds Space pre-installed.

If you were thinking about the new Apple TV, but would rather have 1080p video and not be tied down to iTunes, Roku’s latest players look pretty sweet. Cheapskates: pick up the $59 720p version.
