Awesome Pov

Ever wondered what it would be like inside of a car tire as it rolled down the road? We now have the answer, thanks to Warped Perception, who mounted a GoPro and lights inside a wheel before mounting a tire on it. Since the camera can’t see the outside world, all we see is the rubber deforming as it rolls over bumps.

The nature film experts at John Downer Productions show off another one of their animatronic camera spies. As an eagle drone flies overhead, a robot turtle on the ground infiltrates a bale of 20,000 olive ridley sea turtles coming ashore on a Costa Rican beach to lay their eggs. From “The Tropics” episode of Spy in the Wild 2.

The guys from 5MadMovieMakers love their Hot Wheels. They assembled a track with a 13 foot drop and a vertical ramp at its end to see how high they could launch the toy cars, and still land them on their wheels. We wonder how much higher you could go with a longer runway.

A while back, Buttered Side Down acquired a handful of useful super powers. Now, like most superhero franchises, he’s back with a sequel whether we wanted it or not. This time, he gains extraordinary strength, the ability to rip holes in the fabric of the universe, and the power to outrun his treadmill, among other skills.

LEGO train fans BANANENBUURMAN and Hntrains teamed up to create an outdoor railway alongside the church bells at Citadel Square in Baie Mare, Romania. The display includes an impressive suspension bridge, elevated sections, and a spiral they rebuilt from the recently dismantled world’s tallest LEGO train spiral.

We spent some quality time behind the wheel of the new mid-engine 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and we are extremely impressed with its supercar levels of power, balance, and razor-sharp cornering. Now that Buttered Side Down has figured out how to perform magic and play the violin, he’s worked up quite the appetite. To satisfy his hunger, he set about making a pizza in the only way he knows how – with a GoPro strapped to his head. We’ll have to try that pepperoni trick sometime.

Racer and stunt driver Ken Block shared this in-car footage from his first-ever time racing in the Dakar Rally. His vehicle? The prototype Extreme E Odyssey 21, a badass all-electric rally car that makes 550 hp and 679 lb-ft. of torque. It might be quiet, but it’s deceptively quick.

Playing a really, really slow version of the William Tell Overture in a grade school concert was as far as we got learning to play the violin. But POV video maker Buttered Side Down is more determined to build his skills than we ever were, and he’s also got a great teacher.

We’ve previously seen some of aerial photographer Viggo Koch’s work in his amazing rollercoaster fly-alongs. Now, Viggo has released a reel of some of his other breathtaking first-person drone shots from 2019, from snowy mountaintop landscapes to dusty rally races.

We’ve seen lots of cool things turned on lathes over the years. But one thing we’ve never seen is what the wood sees as it spins around. Mr. Michal decided to clamp his GoPro into the business end of his lathe to see just what that might look like, and the result is unsurprisingly dizzying as it ramps up from 14 to 1800 RPM.

This amazing 4K footage from High Pressure Aviation Films is the closest that most of us will ever get to landing a modern jumbo jet. The view from the cockpit of the Airbus A380 offers up a fantastic show of nighttime illumination outside, and digital displays inside.

Racing drone flyer Viggo Koch captured this epic aerial footage as he chased down the twisty and turny Helix roller coaster at Liseberg park in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Bloodhound LSR team marches closer towards their land speed record goal with a jet-powered car that could reach speeds up to 1000mph. Testing has been going well with some crazy fast runs across the Hakskeenpan desert in South Africa with pilot Andy Green behind the controls. They’ve since hit 461 mph.

Maria Constanza Ferreira created this short using screen grabs from Google Street View. By setting the perspective to a fixed view, it creates the illusion of an impossibly long road. As the film progresses, it uses digital manipulation to turn satellite images into abstract art.

Here in the US, our streets are filled with SUVs, pickups, and other larger than necessary vehicles. In many places around the globe, subcompacts and scooters are the norm. Here’s a POV look at the insanity of weaving through traffic in Hanoi, Vietnam on a Honda scooter.

Like everything he does, Buttered Side Down over-complicates even the most basic tasks. In this silly POV video, he attempts to make the world’s strongest cup of coffee after his mind starts playing tricks on him. Naturally, his brew makes him just that much more jittery.

Perhaps inspired by the LEGO railway work of BananenBuurman, filmmaker Ewan Jones Morris takes us on a thrilling one-shot, POV ride, engineered by LEGO expert builder Gary Davis. Anna Meredith’s engrossing instrumental track serves as the perfect accompaniment to the precision-timed train ride.

UAV flyer Mactac takes us on a beautiful and majestic ride through craggy rocks, tall trees, steep cliffs, and waterfalls in this buttery-smooth first-person flight. The nature sounds and soundtrack really help bring it all together. Original through-the-goggles recording here.

Pro skater Dean-Paul Denniston rigged a GoPro to the underside of hise skateboard, providing a unique perspective on his world, including a badass maneuver called a “kickflip backside lipslide.” We love how the noise the wheels make sounds like an engine.

The athletes of STORROR offer up one of the coolest parkour settings we’ve seen, as a team of acrobats run and jump among the rocky formations of Cappadocia, Turkey while numerous hot air balloons float in the distance and overhead. FPV drone fanatics Rotor Riot managed to score an amazing opportunity to fly – and then dive one of their drones right into the site of an old power plant as it was being imploded, thanks to the guys at Total Wrecking & Environmental. The resulting footage, while brief, is truly epic.

We’ve been on horseback, but we never thought we’d get to go on a turtleback ride. Thanks to YouTuber The Fish Whisperer, we can now see what it’s like to be a turtle, as this little fella heads off into the muddy water, and pops his head up for the occasional fishy snack.
