At BrickCon 2022, Beyond the Brick’s Joshua Hanlon got an up-close look at the impressive 12,000-piece mechanical diorama, which uses 14 motors to bring the Mushroom Kingdom to life.

G-SHOCK and Nintendo created this sweet Super Mario Bros. watch, inspired by the classic 8-bit game. Its bezel and dial are done up in the color of Mario’s red overalls, while the bezel is the sky blue of the Overworld stages. The band features Mario pixel art print, and the LCD screen has an EL backlight with a Mario 1up graphic.

Duck Hunt is one of the OG light gun games. The NES game used a photosensor in its gun to detect its position as you aimed at the birds on screen. Atari Video Music CRT Garage rigged up the game so it could be played on the world’s smallest CRT monitor – just 0.5″ across. It looks like the zapper can’t hit anything at this size.

This isn’t the first time there’s been a Super Mario Bros. full-length film, but this animated feature looks more true to form than that live-action mess from 1993. It’s voiced by a star-studded cast including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, and Fred Armisen.

Artist WUZU clay made the cutest little sculpture of a Nintendo Game Boy / Game Boy Advance hybrid. They built the display inside a metal tin with an acrylic control section and working switches, then sculpted the game’s D-Pad, buttons, and characters out of polymer clay with magnets to hold them in place.

Radiohead’s Paranoid Android is about a young man who feels alienated by a materialistic world. Super Mario 64 is about a plumber trying to rescue a princess. You’d think they’d have nothing in common, but on4word managed to create a version of the in the steel drum style of the game’s soundtrack.

Funkyzeit Games used Unreal Engine 5 to make the Super Mario game they always wished existed. Instead of the franchise’s typically cheerful and bright look, Funkyzeit’s version is dark, moody, and at times even gory. We’d love to see this expanded into a full game.

Adam from North of the Border continues to sculpt a horrifying series of pop culture characters with pointy teeth. This time, he took Nintendo’s Kirby and turned the vacuum-powered pink puffball into something straight out of DOOM, bestowing the creature with a set of choppers only a dentist could love… and skin-ripping claws.

If you’re going to build a maze for your hamster, it really should have a cute theme. Homura Ham has built lots of fun hamster environments, including this adorable and colorful scene inspired by the game level design of Super Mario Bros. We’re just glad the furry little guy didn’t get devoured by a Piranha Plant.

Breaking Bad has been off the air since 2013, but when it comes to memes, the hits keep on coming. With the help of some clever compositing, Chiptuner placed Walter White and Jesse Pinkman in the race of their lives – along the Rainbow Road in a game of Mario Kart Wii. If you didn’t read the title of this video, you might think it was done with computer graphics. But ClayClaim created this spot-on remake of the familiar “It’s-a me, Mario” intro sequence from Super Mario 64 out of clay. Here’s the original for comparison.

Adam from North of the Border likes to imagine that when Mario or Luigi get eaten by a piranha plant, their next life is a lab-grown clone of the original. So after sculpting some cloning tank versions of Nintendo’s iconic plumbers, he built them a mirrored chamber that appears to be an endless cloning laboratory.

This official LEGO version of big bad Bowser has your princess in another castle. The 12.5″ tall, 2807-piece model features brand new LEGO parts for his spikes and has articulated hands and fingers, a head and neck that move, and a fireball launcher in his mouth. It also interacts with LEGO’s Mario, Luigi, and Peach digital figures.

The game Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit uses augmented reality tech to let you play racing games with real-world obstacles. Thomas from Mutch Games takes his course builds to the next level. Nintendo fans, check out these fun Question Mark Block lamps from Rock City Creative. Each is laser cut from birch plywood and will look great in any geeky setting. They come in 4″ and 8″ sizes with either classic gold or color-changing LEDs. We don’t recommend punching it to see if coins or power-ups come out.

There I Ruined It takes a momentary pause from ruining songs to delight us with a little musical mashup. It makes no sense on paper, but combining Eminem’s Lose Yourself with the theme from Super Mario Bros. somehow works just perfectly.
