Prima Games’ follow up to its NES book. Playing with Super Power is a nostalgic guide book. Not only does it contain tips for SNES games, it also has a history of Nintendo’s console and its classics, as well as associated art and music. Also available as an online book.

Retro Fighters‘ Nintendo 64 controller is inspired by modern gamepads. Gone is the middle grip and the center analog stick. Instead, the N64 Controller has a modern thumbstick in the Xbox position, large C buttons, extra Z triggers and a turbo function.

Etsy store 1Up Forge makes key holders using the controller connectors of old video game consoles, such as the NES, the Atari 2600 and the PlayStation. Attach the male connector to your keyring then stick it in the proper port to secure it. They could use more polish though.

Inspired by Jeroen Domburg’s tiny Game Boy-style retro console, Vincent Buso made an even smaller video game system. The Keymu has a clamshell design similar to the Game Boy SP. It’s powered by Intel’s Edison computer and runs emulators on Debian.

Console modder MakoMod went all out for his one-off Nintendo Switch. Based on Link’s handy tool in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the console has been decorated with pine wood, brass, automotive and acrylic paint, putty and varnish, and has LED lights on the dock.

Using an array of effects pedals, musician Nathan Navarro was able to replicate not only the familiar theme music, but the in-game sounds from Super Mario Bros. World 1-1 using his bass guitar.

Nyko announced numerous accessories for the Nintendo Switch at E3 2017, but the Portable Docking Kit stands out. It costs half as much as Nintendo’s dock and is way smaller as well. It even comes with an AC adapter and an HDMI cable. The downside? It doesn’t have USB ports.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle sees Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi team up with their Rabbid counterparts in this turn-based tactical RPG. Beneath the silly art style lies a deep combat system. And also Rabbid Peach. Drops 8/29/17 for the Switch.

A remake of the 1991 Game Boy classic Metroid II: Return of Samus. Made for 3DS and 2DS systems, Metroid: Samus Returns overhauls the game’s graphics and adds new abilities including the ability to fire at any angle, a melee counter attack and new powers. Drops 9/17/17.

From everything we can tell, the upcoming Sonic Mania is the true return to form for SEGA’s blue hedgehog and his pals we’ve been waiting for for years. This six-minute extended gameplay video should convince you if you were sitting on the fence.

Everyone and everything wears Mario’s hat in what could be the killer app for the Switch – a massive 3D platformer with the kind of creative level design, innovative and fun gameplay that harkens back to the all-time Nintendo classic Super Mario 64. Drops 10/27/17.
