Back in 2018, Darren Dyk from Beyond Slow Motion met up with world Yo-Yo champ Evan Nagao in Hawaii to record his attempt to pull off a never-before-seen trick. It took Evan numerous tries, but he eventually manages to make the string fly backwards for five rotations around his Yo-Yo’s body before hooking it on its axle.

Most of us think of Hawaii as an idyllic vacation paradise and a place of majestic natural beauty. But filmmaker Christopher Kahunahana’s Waikiki changes that, presenting a dark portrait of a woman tormented by an abusive ex, and the odyssey that unfolds after she hits a homeless man with her van.

Nature’s fury is on full display in this short film that takes us inside the harrowing 2018 volcanic eruption of Kilauea on Hawaii’s big island. Photographers Lance Page, Michael Lienau, G. Brad Lewis, and Adrian Hein each captured a portion of the spectacular footage, which ranges from massive smoke plumes, to rivers of fire.

FPV drone pilot Nicolas Gaillard was invited to Oahu by Beautiful Destinations to capture aerial footage of some of Hawaii’s most spectacular sights. We think he did a masterful job zooming around the skies and shooting amazing imagery of the island’s natural splendor.

Incredible footage captured via drone as it flies towards an unusual development on Kalapana Hawaii, where a chunk of cliff cracked off and exposed a lava tube which now sprays a huge torrent of liquid hot magma into the Pacific. (Thanks Orion!)

We just went off-roading in the new Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, but what we didn’t mention was that we flew to Hawaii to do it. Here’s a brief highlight video of some of the sights we saw on our way to Hana Ranch for the drive.

Our fitness expert Jamie Labriola headed to Kona, Hawaii to check out the new Oakley Radar Pace smart eyewear and the IRONMAN World Championship. While there, she took in some of the sights, from awe-inspiring beaches, to incredible marine life, to an active volcano.

Mark Visser, with specially engineered LED lighting built into his buoyancy vest and board, became the first to night surf at Jaws off Maui, mainly on feel, in a surreal 2 am session. (Thanks Jonathan!)
