Awesome Gran Turismo

Genesis has created some exceptional vehicles that blend luxury, style, and performance. The Gran Berlinetta VGT Concept isn’t something you’ll be able to drive on the road, but players of Gran Turismo 7 will soon get to drive this sleek hybrid race car with 1071 hp and 986 lb-ft. of torque, driven by a V6 with a 10,000 RPM redline and a Yasa E motor.

The Gran Turismo franchise hits the big screen with a true story about a gamer who got so good at the racing sim that he became a pro race car driver. Director Neill Blomkamp (District 9) brings his VFX prowess along with stars David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Archie Madekwe, and Djimon Hounsou. In theaters 8.2023.

Headed to Sony PS4 racer Gran Turismo Sport, this concept for a single-seat track car has a sharp, futuristic look that takes Lamborghini’s distinctive angular styling and goes bonkers with the aero. The car’s hexagonal side windows were inspired by the stunning 1968 Marzal concept, but this design is anything but retro.

Aside from improvements in graphics, sound and physics, the PS4 exclusive Gran Turismo Sport will have two online tournaments backed by racing body FIA: one where players represent their country and another where players align with a car manufacturer.

Peugeot’s concept car contribution to the the PS3 exclusive Gran Turismo 6. The Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo is only 41″ high and weighs just 875kg (1929lb). Its 875hp V6 lets it go from 0 to 62mph in 1.73s. Too bad it doesn’t exist.

Infiniti’s contribution to Gran Turismo 6’s growing collection of concept cars. The Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo is a hybrid with a naturally aspirated V8 and a mean, viper-like design. Available for download this week.

Unlike previously unveiled Gran Turismo 6 concept cars, the Chevrolet Chaparral 2X VGT is as fictional as it gets. It’s powered by a non-existent laser-based engine and is worn like a wingsuit, with the driver lying on his belly.

The Design Prototype 100 (DP-100) is Aston Martin’s entry for Vision Gran Turismo in Gran Turismo 6. The concept car has a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces up to 800hp. Check out its life-size model here.

Like Mercedes-Benz, Nissan also built a life-size model of its Concept 2020, the concept supercar that will be playable in Gran Turismo 6 this July. The model was displayed at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Concept 2020 is Nissan’s entry in Gran Turismo 6‘s Vision Gran Turismo and a peek at its future supercars. The car will be available for GT6 this July, but “Nissan believes that the real-world is ready” for the car as well.

Gran Turismo 6 will feature not just vehicles from the past and present but from the future as well. It will have concept cars from the biggest names in the automobile and design industry, including Mercedes-Benz AMG, BMW and Nissan.

Developer Polyphony Digital boasts about the software improvements in Gran Turismo 6. Translation? The game held its own at the forward-looking E3, despite the fact that it’s coming out on the “obsolete” PlayStation 3.

Coming this Holiday season, Gran Turismo 6 has new game and physics engines. It will also have all cars and tracks from GT5, plus at least 7 new locations and even more rides. We might also see it ported to mobile devices.

Another user-uploaded video of Gran Turismo 5, this time featuring the game’s introduction to the world-famous test track. We hope we can race as the Stig, because we sure won’t win against him.

One lucky dude already has a copy of Gran Turismo 5, and uploaded the opening cinematic, a 7 minute-long affair that opens with what is practically a mini-documentary on car-making.

While most of you are probably looking forward to taking out a Porsche or a Lambo on the tracks of Gran Turismo 5, there’s nothing quite as visceral as the low-to-the-ground feel of a kart race.
