Awesome Final Fantasy

This is how you break the Internet. With E3 dropping bombs one after the other, Square Enix obliterated the minds of many JRPG fans by announcing an HD remake – not a remaster – of Final Fantasy VII. Coming first to PS4.

Square Enix’s humorous fan service is a mock fighting game based on its burgeoning MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. It probably won’t become an actual game, which is just as well. The ultimate moves take forever to finish.

The new English trailer for Final Fantasy XV gives hints of the game’s plot, introduces new characters – including a foxy mechanic named Cidney – and ends with an elemental tease of the game’s summons. More on Kotaku.

An HD remake of the 2011 PSP title. Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is an action RPG with 14 playable heroes, each with a unique weapon and monster summon. You deploy three of the 14 heroes at a time, swapping between them at will.

Man at Arms: Reforged recreates the classic sword from Final Fantasy VIII. They didn’t bother making the gun part functional, probably due to safety and legal reasons. Besides, how the heck would that even work?

The much-awaited JRPG once again showed signs of life at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. It looks like the hero Noctis and his buddies will go on one hell of a road trip in Meteor Garden Final Fantasy XV. More gameplay here.

Final Fantasy XV has a real-time battle system similar to Kingdom Hearts. Switch between characters on the fly and chain attacks with various weapons to make combos. Coming in 2014 on the PS4 and the Xbox One.

Revisit the adventures of Tidus, Yuna and friends in high definition with the PS3-exclusive bundle of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. Both HD remasters will also be released – albeit separately – for the PS Vita.

The game formerly known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII is now called Final Fantasy XV. It now seems to have a more action-oriented gameplay, with a hero that can teleport short distances and switch weapons on the fly.

Tony Swatton and his crew create a replica of the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII. The sword is made from steel, bronze and aluminum. It’s 6ft long, 12″ wide and weighs between 75-80lbs. Good luck wielding that.

Square Enix has released the complete version of the stunning cinematic that heralded the reboot of MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. The new footage starts at 5:30. Apply for the game’s beta here.

The titular heroine will be a standalone character in Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns. Many of the available actions and decisions that players take will speed up or slow down the world’s demise.

An old Final Fantasy feature returns. In FF XIII-2 you’ll be able to capture some enemy monsters and turn them into allies. You can use them in combat, power them up and combine them.

(Spoilers) This “trailer” for FF XIII-2 is more of a compressed run through the game’s story. It picks up exactly where XIII ended and then takes off on an epic journey through time and space.
