This plain-edged pocket knife from CRKT was designed by Darriel Caston and based on a custom knife he made to commemorate a SpaceX rocket launch. CRKT’s version is all steel, with a 12C27 blade and a stonewashed stainless handle. A ball-bearing pivot opens smoothly, while its frame lock mechanism ensures a confident deployment.

This might look like a vintage straight razor, but it’s a comb. Its curved handle is made from aluminum alloy with a black finish, and its stainless steel comb is easy to open and close thanks to a thumb flipper and scalloped back. It’s also got an emergency glass breaker in its tail, and its comb can be swapped with a utility blade for opening boxes.

A traditional Japanese Higonokami knife has a permanently riveted hinge. These larger Higonokami knives have a removable screw hinge, which makes them easier to maintain and provides a secure locking mechanism. Accessory maker WESN teamed up with fashion brand P&Co. to create a small but useful knife that’s legal in the UK. Their Slipjoint Microblade knife features a stubby D2 steel blade and a brass handle engraved with a sunburst design. It measures 2.3 in / 5.9 cm closed and 3.8 in / 9.75 cm open and has a spring-loaded mechanism for easy closing and safety.

Its center pivot point spins smoothly, turning it into a fidget spinner, while each end of the stainless steel accessory has a built-in bottle opener.
