Awesome Bonsai

Great Big Story’s short profile of master blacksmith Yasuhiro Hirakawa, “the only traditional scissor maker left in Japan.” It takes him one week – working 10 hours a day – to make his bonsai scissors, which can sell for as much as $32,000.

Australian artist Andrew Firth creates these incredible miniature bonsai gardens built atop black human skull replicas cast from PVC. Each one is unique and covered with moss, tiny trees and other items to set the scene. We especially love the eyeball waterfall.
